Welcome to Phoenix, Arizona, host city for the third IEEE Energy Conversion Congress & Exposition® to be held 17-22 September 2011. Metropolitan Phoenix resides in the Valley of the Sun in the American Southwest tucked midway between the Sonoran desert to the South and the deep canyons of the Colorado plateau and Grand Canyon to the North. Some key Arizona attractions include Sedona, Apache Trail, US Route 66, Meteor Crater and many others that are within two or so hour’s drive from Phoenix. Phoenix is the capital and largest city in Arizona, it’s the fifth most populated city in the U.S. with 4.3 million people in the metropolitan area. Downtown Phoenix is rich in cultural, culinary, economic, financial services and industry and also a major transportation hub in North America.
